Common living spaces are where ultimate balance must be struck in a family home. One man’s couch is another (smaller) man’s ultimate cushion fort. The myriad possible uses for each piece in every space is an important consideration when designing for the whole family. A breakfast table should be clever enough to play artist studio, homework desk and game table but still manage to dress up for a proper party. Tastefully including the youngest members of a household in every room is a key ingredient to creating harmony in the home. Incorporating artwork, found objects, favorite things, current interests and giving a wide enough berth to allow for their true contribution enables a child to feel completely safe – completely at home.
